THE SOLSTICE : Between passion and music therapy

With The Solstice, it all starts with a feeling: a ray of light, a pulse, the vague memory of an endless summer.

Behind this project is Adrien Garbar, a self-taught musician, a sensitive and demanding jack-of-all-trades. He writes, composes, produces, and sings, either alone or surrounded by musicians from Los Angeles or Paris.

His passion for music was born very early on: in the intimacy of a basement, among the echoes of an old drum kit, the loops he tinkered with for local rappers, and the therapeutic aspect of musical practice for managing his neurodivergences. He grew up with Motown classics, but also with rock, 90s Hip Hop or early electro, fascinated by the harmonies, the rhythm, the vocals, the production, and the desire to do everything himself.

After living through a very strong love story that led him to live in California for several years, he now sculpts a music that is intimate and expansive, hybrid and alive, a cross between Californian pop, 70s funk, and jazz experiments.

A music of movements and textures, where the naivety of the words dialogues with the harmonic and rhythmic richness. An ode to contrasts carried by an emotion that is sometimes danceable, sometimes contemplative, but never simplistic.
