THE SOLSTICE

The Solstice is the musical and visual mirror of Adrien Garbar, an allegorical project born from a pure sensation: a ray of light, a pulse, the lingering memory of an endless summer. A self-taught musician, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Adrien steers every creative aspect of this universe. Stepping away from traditional academic paths due to his neurodivergence, he turned music into a vital therapeutic outlet, developing his own methods early on through sampling, 2000s rap open mics, and drums practice in jazz, soul, rock and funk bands. Nourished by several years living in California, his style now shapes a vibrant, hybrid "shimmer pop," suspended between West Coast pop, 70s funk, 90s hip-hop, and French Touch.

At the core of his artistic approach lies a striking contrast: layering simple, direct lyrics over rich, loop-based rhythms and harmonies created by sampling himself. By infusing universal pop-culture tropes into a more elaborate niche sound, The Solstice opens doorways to a universe that is both intimate and expansive. A fluid project recorded between Paris and Los Angeles, Adrien surrounds himself with American and Parisian musicians to forge—both on stage and in the studio—a vibrant cultural bridge across the Atlantic.
